The Commercial Manager will oversee the comercial strategy and contractual aspects of infrastructure construction projects, ensuring profitability, compliance, and strategic growth. This role involves managing budgets, negotiating contracts, risk management across all the pahses of projects, and liaising with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Responsibilities And Attributions
Develop and manage commercial strategies for infrastructure projects from tender to completion.
Oversee cost planning, budgeting, and forecasting to ensure profitability.
Lead contract negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with legal standards.
Administer major infrastructure contracts (e.g., FIDIC, NEC, EPC) and manage claims, variations, and dispute resolution.
Monitor project financial performance and provide regular commercial reports to senior leadership.
Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to optimize delivery and cost efficiency.
Identify and mitigate commercial risks, including regulatory, environmental, and stakeholder-related risks.
Support bid preparation and tender submissions for public and private sector infrastructure projects.
Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards in all commercial activities.
Requisites And Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineer, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Professional accreditation (e.g., MRICS, MCIOB, PMP) is highly desirable.
Minimum of 15 years’ experience in commercial roles within infrastructure construction.
Strong knowledge of infrastructure contract frameworks and public procurement processes.
Experience managing large-scale civil engineering projects with complex stakeholder environments.
Strategic thinking and commercial acumen. Advanced negotiation and contract management skills.
Strong analytical capabilities.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proficiency in commercial software (e.g., MS Excel, SAP, Oracle Primavera).
